University course in leadership and communtiy youth work

The University course for Leadership and community youth work started to be implemented in 2002. That was the beginning of the work of the organization on the territory of Republic of Macedonia .

The fundamental goal of the education is to secure academic learning on non-formal way with the implementation of the practical placements, realized by the students during their studies.

So far in the course it has been included over 200 young people and in the youth work and practical placements are being included more than 3000 young people.

LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY YOUTH WORK

2002-2007


The University course for Leadership and community youth work has been implemented in Skopje and Tetovo as the first university course for educating youth workers, accredited by the Declaration of Bologna. The course has been implemented with cooperation with the University in Jonceping , Sweden that offer significant programme support to the realization of the lectures.


The basics principals of this course are non-formal education and social education.
The principal of the non-formal education recognizes organized and planned educational activities that encourage the individual and group learning, gaining knowledge and skills and developing attitudes and values.
The social education is way of learning through which youth workers are trying to help young people to gain knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the fulfillment of their developmental needs and the developmental needs of the community. The fundamental attitude of the social education is that every individual in the society has right to its full emotional, societal and intellectual development.

The Course is being implemented in three levels: level A, level B, level B+ (every level is contained out of 6 educational parts where students gain knowledge in the field of youth work, implementing training programme and trainings for trainers). Through this course it has been educated youth workers and local trainers who practice youth work and who support the local voluntary service.

The courses are being recognizable for the practical lectures where the students besides the theoretical part during the year are realizing number of workshops connected to certain issues or are conducting trainings to a certain group of young people during which they are practicing the techniques and methods learned during the theoretical part of the lectures.

 

LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENTAL COMMUNITY YOUTH WORK

2007/2009


The Leadership and community youth work in 2007 grow into one-year certified programme that is being implemented as a result of the cooperation between the South East European University in Macedonia, The Faculty for education and communication on the University in Jonceping, Sweeden and Center for non-formal education TRIAGOLNIK.

The Certified programme for Leadership and developmental youth work in the community Level A / Semester 1 (30 ECTS) and Level B / Semester 2 (30 ECTS) was organized by the three parts mentioned above in the school year 2007/2008 and 2008/2009.

The curriculum was being developed while using the positive experiences and case studies in the education and training of the youth workers in Sweeden and Great Britain but adapted to the local needs. The curriculum was going under constant development according to the working system of the South East European University and the current researches that can be used for its fulfillment.

The programme, annually was educating 25 youth workers who are capable of working with young people individually, in groups in youth clubs, youth centers, schools and other institutions while using the gained knowledge, skills and values.
